The Story Behind Access Matters OT

Updated: 4 days ago

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been quite creative and drawn to helping people. In year 12, my maths teacher told me about her son who saw an OT, which sparked my interest. She mentioned the OT helped him improve his writing skills and lots of other things he wanted to do, but had difficulty with. I remember thinking, “this is perfect! This is what I’m going to be”.

After more than a decade working for others as an Occupational Therapist, I knew it was time to create something that truly reflected the way I love to work: building relationships, problem solving, and focusing on what really matters - access! Access Matters Occupational Therapy was born from that vision! I wanted to build a service that meets people where they are, in their homes and communities, to help them achieve the goals that matter most to them. Whether that’s being able to shower safely, return to gardening, or simply regain confidence after a fall. These are the moments where OT can make a real difference.

Over the years,

I’ve had the privilege of working with older adults and people living with disabilities including stroke, multiple sclerosis, amputation, autism, and spinal cord injury. I’ve seen firsthand how the right equipment, home modifications, and practical support can completely change someone’s outlook on life and open up opportunities they never imagined. That’s what keeps me incredibly passionate about what I do.

Access Matters OT is built on three key values: ️

Genuine connection - Taking time to listen, understand, and work collaboratively with clients and their families.

Practical, meaningful outcomes - Recommending solutions that truly make life easier, not just what looks good on paper.

Professional excellence - Providing reliable, evidence-based solutions that reflect best practice and a genuine commitment to quality of care I grew up in a small country town and now call the Gold Coast home with my husband, two young girls, and our two dachshunds.

Community means a lot to me and that’s exactly what Access Matters OT is about: supporting people to stay connected, safe, and confident in the place they call home. If you’re looking for support that’s personal, respectful, and focused on real outcomes, I’d love to work with.

Because at the end of the day, access really does matter.
