Occupational Therapists help people stay independent and safe in their daily lives. We look at how you complete everyday activities, such as showering, cooking, working, or getting around, and find practical ways to make these tasks easier. This may include recommending equipment, suggesting home modifications, or teaching new ways of doing things so you can move safely, feel confident at home, and access the places that matter to you.

If you have a DVA gold or white card, your GP can provide you with a letter of referral to receive allied health services such as occupational therapy.

The Department of Veterans Affairs supply a specific form that can be completed for referral of eligible DVA card holders. Link to specific DVA Request/Referral form (D0904)

Referrals to allied health providers last either 12 sessions or one year, whichever ends first. You can have as many treatment cycles as your GP decides is clinically necessary.

If you are a private client, you can contact Access Matters Occupational Therapy directly - no referral is needed.

We work primarily with adults and older adults, including veterans, and people living with physical, neurological, or cognitive conditions such as:

• Stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, or Multiple Sclerosis

• Spinal cord injury

• Dementia or brain injury

• Amputation or limb difference

• Arthritis or reduced mobility

• Vision or hearing impairments

Once we receive your enquiry, we’ll get in touch to make sure we’re the right fit for your needs and that you have everything ready for your initial appointment.

No, we don’t currently offer clinic appointments. Access Matters Occupational Therapy is a mobile service, meaning we come to you in the comfort of your own home.

Appointments are completed in your home or community setting to ensure all recommendations are practical, safe, and tailored to your individual environment and needs.

Appointment lengths vary depending on your individual needs. Initial assessments may take up to 1 hour, while follow-up or review appointments can range between 20 to 45 minutes.

More complex assessments, such as home modifications or equipment trials, may require longer sessions to ensure everything is completed safely and thoroughly.

Access Matters Occupational Therapy does not provide ongoing therapy for NDIS participants.

However, we can complete Functional Capacity Assessments and Cognitive Assessments on a privately funded basis to support individuals who are applying to enter the NDIS. These assessments provide detailed evidence of functional abilities and support needs, which can assist in your NDIS access request.

Bec provides NDIS services through a separate provider, Let’s Go Therapy. Please refer to Let’s Go Therapy’s website or contact Bec directly, for more information about accessing NDIS-funded supports.

Access Matters Occupational Therapy is not currently accepting Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plans or Medicare referrals.

All services are provided on a privately funded basis.

If you’re unsure about available funding options, please contact us to discuss what may best suit your needs.

Please have any relevant medical or referral information available, such as your DVA card (if applicable) or any recent reports from other health professionals.

It’s also helpful to think about your main goals or challenges—for example, activities you’d like to do more easily or safely at home.

If you already use equipment or aids, keep them nearby so Bec can review them during the appointment.
